Depends on what kind of business you are
There are, of course, many types, sizes and genres of businesses. You can borrow ideas and styles for your business from others; it's a common thing to do. Just make sure you get ideas that are successful.
You can modify any Squarespace template easily
Squarespace makes it easy to edit templates for version 7.1. If you only love one part of the template, you can keep that part or section and redesign the rest to your liking. You can build your own pages very quickly on Squarespace. The colours and typography will be set up to the template designer's preferences, but you can override that too if need be. We get many people purchasing our Coffee Shop themed Squarespace template and modifying it heavily. Once you have built a few pages in Squarespace, you will be able to put together new pages on your site in no time.
If you are looking for a template to get you started with Squarespace, below are 7 different designs for your business.
Consultant
Up first is this no-nonsense, direct template from Kseniia. The colours are bold and strong and this design would be suited to an experienced business that is looking to serve a professional service. It's been heavily optimised for mobile and works very well on all devices. If you are looking for a template that does what it says on the tin - serve small businesses, you could do a lot worse.
Chicory
Chicory is a stylish design, created by little-known Squarespace template designers Blooming Design. They use a marble like image in the header and it works really well here. It sets the tone for the rest of the page. Subtle effects like this really make for a strong template design. The calls to action are prominent and stand out against the other elements well. There are animations used throughout the pages, and they are consistent, which is a good thing. Some designers go overboard with animations, with elements coming in from all angles. Blooming Design has made their animations from the bottom up on all elements. It's these touches that make for a well-constructed temple.
Sparrow
Sparrow was also featured in our best templates for coaches, and it's worth another featured slot here as it's a great template. The template home page featured a subtle background image with the headline, centred and prominent. This is how many pages should be. It's the text and headlines that sell products, not fancy, aesthetically pleasing images that sell. These guys base their templates on the StoryBrand framework, which is a process and outline of a story structure throughout your site. I highly recommend you pick up a copy and start using it on your websites.
Taste of Décor
A stylish template by Elise is up next. Depending on your business, you could leave the main hero image(top images on your site) as is. It's beautiful with the chair and plant. You may need to use your own, but I'd definitely look at creating or shooting images with similar colours, as the other complementary colours are designed around that image. Immediately below the hero image is a block of logos where your clients can be showcased. This is a great idea and amplifies social proof. Naturally you will need to swap out these with your own clients but have this so high and prominent on the home page will increase trust and therefore conversions.
Belize
Belize is a modern-looking template with a sub-theme or circular images. These images add something not seen on many templates at all. 99% of websites have hard images and corners at 90 °. This template just looks a lot different, as we are not used to seeing images used this way. Belize is initially targeted at social media creators but with its unique style which can be easily edited in Squarespace, I've added it in here. A great template and one well worth considering for your small business.
Accountant
Our second featured design is from renowned Squarespace expert designer Kseniia. It does what it says on the tin - it's a template for accountants, but which can be easily modded for other types of businesses. The lime green gives a unique feel to this template. Strong images help this template stand out, too. The images are quite generic, so you could use some as they are. A worthy mention and one for your consideration, especially if you are a female accountant.
Adelle
Last but not least, Adelle is up. This is a straight-talking, no-nonsense template by Ley Studio. The hero on the home page is an interesting part. The subtle background image works really well; most designers would leave that pure white, but the faint grey colour sets the image and headline off. The all black call to action is strong and to the point. This is a template that means business, and one you should consider if that's your style of business.
I hope that has widened your eyes to some more Squarespace templates.
